Wyndham Hotel

This project involved the refurbishment of the 5 star Wyndham Hotel, at Chelsea Harbour West London.

  • Project Cost £10 million
  • Architect Heber-Percy and Parker Architects
  • Images Fluid Structures

Fluid established the structural scope of work and were responsible for the design of all temporary and permanent structural works which included substantial remodelling of the interior of the hotel at lower ground floor, ground floor and 7th, 8th and 9th floor levels.

Major elements of the structural work included removal of 14 reinforced concrete columns at lower ground floor level to create a banqueting hall and conference centre that could accommodate 900 people. The support of the new steel frames that transferred load of the columns (that were removed) had to be approved by the Environment Agency as it was supported by structures that formed part of the Thames Flood Defence network.

Other works included the design of a new spa/treatment floor above the existing swimming pool as well as the reconfiguration of the Penthouse suites and the extension of the ground floor terrace and lower ground floors.
