St Barbe Museum & Art Gallery, Lymington

Fluid Structures have been appointed as Structural Engineers for the refurbishment of the St Barbe Museum & Art Gallery.

The museum is housed within a former Victorian built primary school and is located within the heart of Lymington in Hampshire. The project’s key driver is to improve the facilities and opportunities for visitors in order to increase attendance and interest for the museum.


The proposed works include the following:


  • The design of a new brick clad facade forming the new entrance to enhance the impact and visibility of the museum.
  • The design of a signage pier in front of the museum.
  • Structural alterations to internal existing structures to create a better spatial arrangement.
  • The design of free standing walls around the perimeter of the site.
  • Rooftop plant deck.
  • Project Cost £1 to 2 million
