Reiss HQ, 9 – 12 Barrett Street

This project involved the construction of a seven storey new build retail and office block on a site close to Oxford Street in Central London. In addition to the normal structural engineering service (concrete frame design etc.), Fluid were also engaged to act as engineers for the facade.

The work involved the design of a new elevation on Barrett Street which consisted of floor to ceiling double glazed units with a new rain screen spaced off in front of them. The rain screen consists of acrylic panels which have been routed and are held back by a suspended steel mullion system. The façade was a bespoke design which required Fluid to resolve a number of complex issues including the securement of the acrylic and the design of suitable restraints to allow for thermal movement.
