OSH House, Parkhurst

This project involved the design of a new weekend family home in Parkhurst, Abinger Common, Surrey.

The area of the new two storey is approximately 5,000 sq feet. Early in the project it was decided to restrict the construction material palate and keep it simple. The house was thus conceived as a brick and timber construction – The traditional vernacular of English “Arts and Craft€ housing. As a consequence of this decision, considerable time was spent developing the “layering€ of the elevations. This involved resolving the structural strategy vertically spanning piers with the spatial requirements and the desire to create a facade where the brickwork told the story of its function.
