Hotel Europe

The existing building comprised basement, ground, 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th floors.

The Victorian building consists of lead-bearing masonry/stud walls and timber floors. The main work on the project involved the addition of 2 storeys at the rear of the hotel and the addition of a 5th floor at the front of the hotel. Although building control approval was obtained for the 5th floor extension, the client decided not to proceed with this element of the project. Other works on the project included major alterations to the lift shaft as well as the removal of several 13 and 18 inch thick brick walls.
