This new two storey teaching block adopts a timber vernacular with cladding sympathetic to its rural setting in the Weald, utilises passive natural ventilation, and enjoys the low carbon benefits offered by wood.
The building is constructed with a structural timber superstructure on reinforced concrete foundations. A glazed timber framed walkway adjoins the long East elevation facing on to the centre of the campus.
The completed building, formally named ‘The Hovels’ strengthens the existing junior school campus, which provides facilities for approximately 400 children.
The project was completed on time and to a tight budget for a very satisfied client.
