Carlsberg Brewhouse, Copenhagen

The project involved a renovation and refurbishment of the existing 1900’s Carlsberg Brewhouse in Copenhagen. The Brewhouse is one of 25 national Danish industrial heritage sites, and has a very pronounced position in the layout of the new master planning of the area. It is situated in between the two famous and significant landmarks of Copenhagen, the Elephant Gate and the Dipylon.

The refurbishment also involved a new rooftop extension above the existing building. The intention was to create a restaurant and bar space that provides connections with the city by reinstating the view of the city via the use of large openings within ‘volumes/boxes’ of the new extension. It will also be enhanced by day and night lighting creating dynamic visual experience of the space through changes of lights and shadows.
