Senior Chartered (or near chartered) Structural Engineer

We are currently looking for a Senior Chartered (or near chartered) Structural Engineer to join our team.

 

The main purpose of the role will be to deliver accurate structural engineering solutions appropriate to the stage and type of project under consideration, including managing a small group of Engineers and REVIT/Cad Technicians.

 

The successful applicant must demonstrate the following skills.

 

-Experience designing and assessing various forms in all the main materials (concrete, steel, timber and masonry) as well as strong technical knowledge.

-Confident communicator, able to represent the practice at design and client meetings and capable of preparing design reports.

-Able to take responsibility for the review of work prepared by others.

-6 – 12 yrs. post graduate experience of which a large proportion must be in buildings with UK based consultancies.

-MIStructE or MICE

Personal Assistant to Managing Director

Purpose of role:

This role is to assist the MD with his day to day activities and provide general assistance with business development and work in tandem with the Office Manager.

 

Responsibilities include:

Diary Management, tracking all aspects of the MD’s schedule including internal meetings, project meetings, lecturing, travel and co-ordinating his diary with the Studio.

Managing communication including filtering calls, emails, and written documents and responding to messages by instruction, preparing correspondence for review. Summarising and communicating information. Where appropriate responding on the MD’s behalf to Staff, Consultants and Clients.

Arranging all aspects of local and international travel, including itineraries, bookings, flights, visas, accommodation, taxis, check-in.

Assisting generally with wider tasks, such as expenses and limited personal business, IT, updating contacts.

Supporting internal communication between the MD and Studio. The MD will rely on the PA to support internal communication. The role requires the PA to seek information and stay up to date with all key internal management and project processes. The PA will be expected to liaise with all studio staff generally for this purpose.

General administration duties including printing and filing emails, typing reports, letters and general correspondence, taking minutes. Making daily lunch arrangements for the MD and tea/coffee.

 

Other duties:

Assist in preparation of bids and tender submissions, including formatting of sheets, selecting images, typing text and liaison with other consultants.

Preparation of presentation material for tender interviews/seminars.

Assist with preparation of publicity material for all projects.

Assist with managing the office contacts and project database.

Manage company brochures which includes updating old pages, creating new pages.

Updating company Website and social media pages.

 

This position is ideal for someone with excellent communication skills, the ability to use Microsoft Office, InDesign and Photoshop and preferably someone with experience in a similar industry.
