A seven-storey listed aluminium, glass and steel main staircase balustrade needed to be replaced. The original balustrade installed in the 930's is a listed structure. However, the handrail is too low and does not comply with Building Regulations. As a result, the replacement balustrade details needed to be agreed with English Heritage, the Twentieth Century society and Building Control.
