The existing building is a 1970's exploration into modernism that is in fact the epitome of minimalism in everything including the structure. Our project was to reinforce the existing building in sympathy with the original form and to extend the building with a new storey timber frame addition. Piled foundations were adopted to avoid disruption to the existing building and special consideration went into accommodating future relative movements over the flexibility of the existing building.
