Brighton College is a co-educational school for 3-18 year olds. This project involves the demolition of some small existing buildings and removal of an outdoor raised walkway. The new building will reconnect two of existing quads in Brighton College by providing a contemporary cafe area and an outdoor seating area. The building will also contain a new IT classroom, as well as an improved health centre, principal offices, senior common room and boardroom. The building provides a contemporary counterpoint to the older brick buildings surrounding it by the use of a pitched roof with modern glazing solutions. The main structural engineering features of the project involve negotiating the restricted site, spanning large distances and the need for an excellently finished building. Regular design meetings with the client, architect and other consultants ensures an exceptional building will be created.
