Fluid Structures are working with MAKE architects on a new campus building for Birkbeck University. The development proposes to be a landmark for higher education and engage and connect with the local community. The new building will signal the transformation and regeneration of education in this area along with the legacy set by the Olympics. As part of the proposal, the building which will include studios, lecture theatres and classrooms, will need to have flexible structural solutions to provide maximum flexibility with future use. It is envisaged that this will be achieved by constructing the building as a reinforced concrete frame with flat slab construction. Maximum flexibility will be achieved by the employment of a 9m x 9m column grid.

Project cost: £25.0 million
